Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to investigate factors influencing teachers’ job performance in
government secondary schools of the West Gondar zone in the Amhara region. To achieve the
purpose of this study a mixed research approach and a descriptive survey design were used.
Questionnaires and interviews were used to collect the data. Interview data were collected
purposively selected from 6 principals and 4 supervisors. Whereas the questionnaire was used to
collect data from 172 teachers who were selected using simple random sampling techniques (lottery
system) from government secondary schools in the West Gondar zone in the Amhara region. The data
were analyzed by using frequency and percentage. The finding of the study indicated the job
performance of teachers in secondary schools of west Gondar zone were majorly influenced by the
current performance of teachers in participation of teachers in CDP to give training, developing
teaching material, working environment, leadership style, and economic status. Generally, the
outcome indicates that teachers' job performance was negatively affected by such factors.
