Abstract:
The main purpose of this study was to investigate the factors affecting teachers’ job satisfaction in
secondary school of Ebinat Woreda. Data were collected from four secondary schools using purposive
sampling to ensure that teachers who had at least one year experience and above in teaching in
responding to the question. Totally 164(160teachers and four principals) sample respondents’ were
selected from sample secondary schools using simple random and stratified sampling method. The
researcher was collects the relevant through standardized questionnaire and interview. To identify the
factors of job satisfaction, descriptive research design were used and correlation was used to show the
link between demographic factors and job satisfactions for this study. Furthermore, data were analysed
by SPSS software using frequency, mean, standard deviation and correlation. According to descriptive
statistical result, most item questions show the mean score of 1.2 up to 2.49, which implies that
teacher’s job satisfaction affected by salary, supervision, promotion, working conditions and
recognition (Herzberg two factors). And based on the questioners’ result of the respondents’ majority of
the results with frequencies score of 73.3 teachers are dissatisfied. Moreover, the correlation result was
shows that there is a significant relationship between demographic characteristics to job satisfaction
such as age, educational level and experience with a value of: r=.094 (p=.005), r=0.066 (p=0.047) and
r=-0.098 (p<0.01) respectively. Finally based on the findings: salary, working environment, supervision,
promotion and recognition were the main factors of teachers’ job satisfactions and majority of the
demographic characters show that a significant influence on the level of job satisfaction. According to
such results the researcher recommends that for raising job satisfaction in study area school teachers
and to offer good job condition increase teachers job satisfaction by improve: school facilities, good
working conditions, rewarded with intensive, promotion and good supervision practice.
