dc.description.abstract |
The purpose of the study is assessing the input related factors that affect students’ learniwith the focus of secondary schools in Laygayint woreda which is one of the 15 woredas South Gondar Administrative Zone, in Amhara National Regional State. Laygayint woredawas selected using purposive sampling technique where there were four governmsecondary schools. All the four schools were included in the study using comprehensisampling technique. Similarly, all the grade levels (grade 9-12) were included in the studyusing a similar sampling technique. A descriptive survey design was employed to conduct study. Target population of the study were students and teachers. The total population of study was 6048 of which 5828 were students, 216 were teachers and the rest 4 wprincipals. Sample size of the study included 374 students, 140 teachers and 4 principaltotally accounted for 514. Data to the study were gathered using questionnaires from students and teachers and using interview from principals. A descriptive statistics (frequenccount, percentage, mean and standard deviation) was used to analyze the quantitative data.Data collected from interview were qualitatively analyzed. The results of the study indicatedthat all the categories of the input related factors (physical facilities, instructional inputeducational personnel and material facilities) were found significant in affecting studentlearning. It is generally, concluded that students’ learning in schools needs due attention light of the identified input factors to make a difference in a positive way. This has to considered and recognized by all the major schools’ stakeholders who are found along continuum of providing education. The research title has five chapters chapter oneintroduction, chapter two literatures, chapter three research methodologies, chapter fourdata presentations and result discussion , and summary conclusion and recommendation. |
