dc.description.abstract The target of this study was to examine the major input factors affecting quality of education in second cycle primary schools of Hababo Guduru Woreda. To conduct this study, a descriptive research design was employed. The study was carried out on eight governmental second cycle primary schools. These schools were selected randomly. Accordingly, 105 primary school teachers, 8 school PTAs, 11 principals /vice-principals and 3 primary school supervisors and totally 127respondents were selected as samples to conduct the study. Questionnaires, interview, and observations were the data gathering instruments used in this study. The data gathered were interpreted and analysed by using statistical tools such as frequency, percentage, mean value and weighted mean. It was found out by the study that school facilities such as library, laboratory water, toilet, clinic service and internet services were not supplied with the necessary facilities in providing the necessary services in the second cycle primary schools of the selected woreda. Other factors identified by the study include; low responsibility of school leaders in providing instructional leadership, limited school leaders’ responds to expressed feelings by staff and students, low commitment of school principals in complimenting both staff and teachers in their work, teachers’ inability to use various teaching methods and teaching aids depending on the topic being covered, and teachers’ lack of knowledge to maintain positive and effective learning environment through were identified as major input factors affecting quality of education in the study area. In line with the above finding and conclusion made , it was recommended that principals should delegate the work to vice principals and department heads to minimize work load, adequate and timely training should be given for teachers, parents, WEOH and local NGOs should work in collaboration involve in assisting the schools in funding for repairing and to buy school facilities. en_US
