Abstract:
ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study was to assess problems of resource management practice in
Enebsie Sar Midder woreda Primary Schools. To accomplish this purpose, the
researcher preferred to undertake descriptive survey method because it helps to see the
existing situation without overstatement and to forward possible suggestions.From
atotal of 78 primary schoolsin the woreda 14schools were selected by using systemic
random sampling techniques .From these schools, 70 teachers were selected out of 208
by using simple random samplingin method.The study took only 70 teachers
respondents for the analysis. On the other hand, 14principals, 112KETB and 84 PTA
members were selected by using comprehensive sampling. The head of woreda
education office, head of finance and economy, and principals were selected by using
purposive sampling. The questionnaire was made to be closed ended followed by some
open -ended questions.The reliability of the questionnaire was checked by using
Cronbach alpha method after pilot test was conducted. The face and content validity of
the tools were also checked by experienced teachers. Percentage and mean method of
analysis were used to analyze the data collected through questionnaire and also
narrated for interview items.Thus, the results of the study revealed that essential and
desirable physical resources were very low.physical resources were inadeucate in
almost all schools.thus the situation negeatively influences the learning and teaching
process. The results of this research also portrayed that in most schools there wasn’t
proper handling and organizing of resources. In many schools though out the woreda
there weren’t regular inventory control. Stakeholders were very poor in in managing
these resources. Many scools hadn’t used the allocated budget for maintenance.
Findings also showed that the durability of buildings, facilities and other physical
resources were getting less and less todeliver longer service.becouse of lack of
preventive maintenance.therefore, primary scools are in aproblem to achieve their
educational objectives due to poor management of resources. Hence, the following
recommendation were made, Woreda education office cooperatively with finance and
economy office should give training about proper utilization of resources for
principals,SGBSand other stakeholders and allocate enough budght. ARSEB should
sense the existing problem and recomanded to ministry of education. Auditors’ suould
audit store house, finance, and identified discripancies and take corrective measures
