Abstract:
This study was entitled as: Assessment of Factors affecting the performance of women
entrepreneurs in micro and small enterprise and aims to investigate the main factors affecting the
performance of women entrepreneurs in micro and small enterprise with special emphasis on
urban agriculture, trade and service in Azezo- Teda sub city in Gondar town. To achieve the
objective of this study, cross sectional descriptive design has been practiced and then mixed
approach method has been applied where by questionnaire as quantitative data collection tool
was organized and analyzed using statistical analysis such as descriptive and inferential analysis.
Both primary and secondary source of data was taken. The respondent women entrepreneurs
were taken as the whole which means whole sampling techniques was used, this study also
employed explanatory approach, and the total of 160 participant entrepreneurs involved in the
study. To provide qualitative data 4 key informants were involved in the interview session and
the group of FGD that hold 8 persons were engaged and the report has been interpreted. As the
quantitative data after the data has been collected it was analyzed by (number and percentage),
descriptive statics (mean and standard deviation) and inferential spastics (correlation and
regression). The result indicated the attribute of women entrepreneurs in micro and small
enterprise affected their performance significantly; and also the study has revealed that the key
economic, legal and administrative factors and the main challenges faced in government
institutions support areas of women entrepreneurs did have to the extent of 58.7% determining
power on the variance on the side of dependent variable.
