Abstract:
The main objective of the study wasto analyze the incidence and identify the main determinants
of poverty in rural areas in Borena district and the study employed primary data collected from
226 sample household head. Logistic regression model was employed the main variable’s that
determine household poverty are sex,age,family size ,total dependence ratio, marital status
,remittance,educations,houses Owens ,food price rise.From hypothesized variables three
variables were total dependency,family size and sex of household head significant with respect to
the probability of being poor with less than 5% of probability level in rural areas.Have been
employed to the set of the poverty line and compute the magnitude of rural areas. The study
analyze the different measures of poverty using the logistic classes of poverty indices, poverty
index method of poverty line identify the poor from non- poor. The study suggests implication for
the gender policies on supporting female headed and appropriate implementation of family
planning programs plus action based awareness creation on the impacts of the population
growth at family and community level
