dc.description.abstract The study was initiated to explore the perception and practice of female students towards physical education practical classes; in selected 3 Gondar city administration high school. It attempted to assess the level of PE perception and practice of female students, investigate the major challenges that hindered the implementation of physical exercise session on female, and suggest possible solutions. To realize the purpose of the study, descriptive survey research design was employed. The total population of the study were 3 government high schools that are found in Gondar town. The study was carried out in 3 government high schools selected using simple random sampling techniques. Data were gathered mainly through both from primary sources in a year 2021and 2022 and applied different methods such as female students survey, interviews as a sources. For the survey, 197 female students, 9 HPE teachers and 3 principals were selected by using both purposive and random sampling techniques are used in three schools and a total of 197 sample respondents from the selected schools are employed. Descriptive statistics were used to describe the perception and practice of female students towards physical education practical classes and Percentage, frequency counts, were employed as statistical tools to analyse the data. Based on the analysis, it was found out that, the implementation of PE practical session in high schools of Gondar town Administration was not satisfied; then the participant respondents which revealed that there is significant difference between male and female students participation. The SPSS statistical package was employed to compute descriptive statistics were used to generate data for descriptive statistics. Additionally, shortage of material like balls, cloths, sport equipment, etc. and shortage of play and training ground (inconvenience of the existing sport fields were found as the highest problems. Moreover, shortage of budget to full-fill those materials that are very important and less attention was given to PE practice sessions from the administrative body, were also pointed out as the highest problem that hampered the implementation PE practical session. Accordingly, it is concluded in this study that the implementation PE practical session in secondary schools under consideration was less than the expectation and problematic. Finally, the study recommended that making school renewal project; The schools management should prepare play ground to apply, female teachers for female students at high school level and they should do the exercise separately from their opposite sex.Teaching aid material in the school should available, the class schedules of the PE practical session should be convenient to make practice, develop positive attitudes of the student on practical session, the school community and the subject teachers should work on the attitudes of the society, further investigation should be carried out on the interest of teachers and students towards the PE subject Key words: Female students, Health and physical education, Perception, Practice. 1 en_US
