Abstract:
Introduction: Sexual violence is a serious public health problem and human right issues
affecting millions of women and girls each year throughout the world with short and
long term impacts on women抯 and girls physical, mental, sexual and reproductive health.
A wide range of sexually violent acts can occur in different circumstances and settings.
Objective: The objective of this study was to assess the proportion and associated factors
of sexual violence among night junior school female students in Gondar town,
Northwest, Ethiopia 2019
Methods: Institutional based cross- sectional study was conducted among female
night junior school students in Gondar town .About 422 randomly selected students
were included from March to April 2019. Self-administered structured questionnaire was
used to collect data and finally the data was entered into EPInfo version 7 and exported
into SPSS version 20 for further analysis. Logistic regression model
Result:The result of this study was indicated that 7.5% of female students were raped at
least once in throughout their school lifetime, while 21.9% faced attempted rape, and
58.8% faced sexual harassment and the over all proportion of sexual violence was 63.4%
wiith 95% CI
Conclusion and Recommendation: The proportion of sexual violence among night
school female students in this study area was high. Appropriate intervention is needed by
participating every concerned body in creating safe route through school to home.
