| dc.description.abstract | Background: Post abortion family planning is initiation or use of modern contraceptive use immediately and within 48 hours after an abortion care. There is no evidence available in this study area about post abortion modern contraceptive utilization some important factors were not addressed so far. Objective: to assess post abortion modern contraceptive utilization and its associated factors among women who get abortion services in health facilities found in Gondar City Northwest Ethiopia. Methods: An institution based cross sectional study was conducted among 629 women who had come and got an abortion services from February 10 to May 25, 2020 in Gondar town health facilities. Systematic random sampling technique used for recruiting participants and data were collected by trained data collectors using pretested and structured questionnaires. The data were entered into Epi data and exported to SPSS version 21software for further analysis. Binary logistic regression was employed to identify association between two variables. Multivariable analysis was conducted to produce AOR and to control possible confounders and p-value <0.05 with 95% CI was considered to declare statistically significant factors. Results: Utilization of post abortion modern contraceptive was found to be 79% Conclusion: The study showed post abortion modern contraceptive use is relatively good compare to other study. Having previous history of abortion, women who conduct induced abortion, attitude towards post abortion family planning and receiving poor or no counseling service found to be significant determinant of post abortion family planning utilization. Inclusive and comprehensive post abortion counseling service need to be given to increase the utilization. Key words: Post abortion family planning use, associated factor, Gondar Ethiopia. | en_US |
