dc.description.abstract Introduction: Effective breastfeeding technique is one of the best and cost-effective ways of promoting exclusive breastfeeding practice that prevents childhood malnutrition, morbidity and mortality. Despite the immense importance of effective breastfeeding technique, there is limited information about the proportion effective breastfeeding technique and associated factors among lactating mothers at Gidan district, northeast Ethiopia. Objective: To assess effective breastfeeding technique and associated factors among lactating mothers at Gidan District, Northeast Ethiopia, 2021. Methods: A community-based cross-sectional study was conducted involving 786 lactating mothers at Gidan District, Northeast Ethiopia, between March 30 and April 29, 2021. A multistage sampling technique was employed to recruit participants. An interviewer-administered questionnaire and an observational checklist were used to collect the data. The data were entered into Epi-data version 4.6 software and exported in to Stata version 14 for the purpose of analysis. Both bi-variable analysis and multi-variable logistic regression models were used. Variables with a p-value of < 0.05 in the multivariable logistic regression model were declared as statistically significant. Result: The proportion of effective breastfeeding technique was 42.9% en_US
