dc.description.abstract Abstract Background: Routine health information system put data directly into the hands of decision makers and managers for entire levels of the health system. The capability of managers using data from routine health information system is crucial for planning and budgeting, continuous quality improvement, and responding for clients? needs successfully. Poor data quality affects functions of management which bases on it. Evidences show that there is difference in data quality of health service units/departments which are the pillar of health centers but not yet investigated comprehensively. The decision based on poor data quality implies improper mananagment of health system. In Benishangul-Gumuz region, the data qulity status and factors associated with data quality not yet studied. Objective: To assess data quality status and associated factors among selected health centers of Benishangul Gummuz region, 2019. Method: Facility based cross-sectional study design was conducted between April 12 and May 24, 2019. Data was collected using pre-tested self-administered questionnaire, checklist, and document analysis. Statistical software SPSS version 20 was used for result analysis. Binary logistic regression was used to justify factors for the outcome variable. Result: All 121 units were evaluated for data quality and all of their respective heads were responded for the questionier with response rate of 100%. The accuracy, completeness, and timeliness status were 31.2%, 76.9% and 86% respectively. Performing data analysis at the unit level and data quality checking skill were justifiable factors for data quality AOR [8.74:CI(1.44,52.99)] and AOR [4.46: CI(1.18,16.87)] respectively. Conclusion: Overall data quality status was below the national target. Perform data analysis at department level and data quality cheking skill were justifiable factors.
