dc.description.abstract The world passes through diversified wars that harms the entire living things on the globe. Civil wars are considered as the worst parts in human history that devastates living and non-living things. The main objective of this research was to assess the damages of the contemporary civil war torn on tourism heritage in Chechiho Medahnialem Monastery arenas in Gaint Woreda. To achieve this objective qualitative and quantitative research aproach was used. A total of 26 purposely selected interviewees were key informants and 384 respondents were used for questionnaire responses using a simple random sampling technique to gather both qualitative and quantitative data. Both primary and secondary data were collected through semi structured interviews , questionnaires, observation checklists, focus group discussion and key informants and document analysis for all qualitative data ,paraphrasing while remaining faithful to the original meaning as it was given the respondents have been applied. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis to show damages of the contemporary civil war torn on Chechiho Medahnialem Monastery heritage tourism site and the results were presented using tables and graphs. Based on the results of the research Chechiho Medahnialem Monastery’s roof, windows, doors, floors, pillars and the buildings was physically damaged, the church leaders and servants income decreases, the foreign and local tourist flow decreases, and lack of budget to finish small buildings was the economical damaged aspects and socially there was grief due to the destruction of the Monastery, creates bad image on the mentality of the Chechiho Medahnialem Monastery’s communities and decreases population flow towards the Monastery to get service was some of the damage by the contemporary civil war torn. The heritage site needs security and protection from such damage and destruction activities with the involvements of different stakeholders to get benefit from the current damaged monastery. en_US
