Abstract:
Agroforestry practice on Farm Land is an important component of agricultural landscape but has
been under threat of depletion recently. This is because of the small land size, lack of tree tenure
security, free grazing, political and institutional instability, abrupt and radical changes in rural
development policies and strategies. The objective of this study is Assessing Socioeconomic
benefits of agroforestry practice. Simple random sampling was used to select a sample size of
327 respondents from households. Primary quantitative and qualitative data was collected using
questionnaires, key informant interview and focus group discussion. Quantitative data was
analyzed interpreting by using descriptive statistics, frequencies and cross tabulation analysis.
Qualitative data was analyzed using content analysis. 88.3% of the respondents have benefited by
scattered tree. Scattered tree on farmland have social, economic and environmental benefit and
has the potential to link sustainable community and forest conservation. The respondents benefit
include, cash income , food supply , raw material , energy supply , resource to meet social need
and conservation of water , soil and forest . 88.3% of the respondents have benefited by scattered
tree. Scattered tree on farmland have social, economic and environmental benefit and has the

regarding to attitudes of farmer towards scattered tree on farm land had positively or moderately
better attitude towards the importance of going for scattered tree plantation on farm land. almost
all respondents faced challenge to practice scattered tree plantation on farmland. The barrier to
planting trees include small land plot size and that land use different types of product in small
area at the time, lack of awareness by the farmers of environmental , social and economic benefits
of trees and lack of ownership. Age, family size, education, occupation, year of experience,

tree plantation on-farm. However, there was need to build capacity of farmers to recognize tree
plantation as an important component of farm lands and how can improve the practices and
benefits to farmers and to sustainably use them.
