Abstract:
The study of incomplete Fusion in heavy ion reactions, the excitation functions for several residues produced in the system 16O
+159Tb have been studied in the energy range 70-95MeV. The experimental excitation functions have been compared with those
calculated using computer code PACE4. The experimentally studied production cross-sections for α emitting channels, the
experimental excitation functions exhibit a significant enhancement in the production cross-section, which may be attributed to the
incomplete fusion (ICF) processes at these energies. Comparison of experimental and theoretical calculated excitation functions has
indicated significant contributions from incomplete fusion in some α emission channels. In the present study, the excitation functions
of 159Tb(16O; 2p2n)171Lu , 159Tb(16O; αn)170Lu, 159Tb(16O, α2n)169Lu,and 159Tb(16O; 2α2n)165Tm were studied in these
reactions. An attempt has been made to separate out the relative contributions of complete and incomplete fusion channels. The
percentage of incomplete fusion factor was calculated for all theα emitting reactions and its variation with normalized energy
(projectile energy per coulomb barrier) was studied.
