Abstract:
This study set out to examine social disarticulation and livelihood vulnerability among
violence displaced household. To this end, the study was conducted on displaced household
settled in Chagni Town, Guangua district temporary displacement camp to assess livelihood
vulnerability experienced by IDP, disruption of socio cultural organization, investigates the
resilience mechanisms adopted by IDP as well as the social services provision and associated
problems. Both quantitative and qualitative research approach was employed to collect and
analyze the data needed to address the aforementioned objectives. Accordingly, 106 survey
questionnaires were administered. In addition, in-depth interviews were conducted with four
male and two female volunteers. Besides, key informant interviews were conducted with two
informants.
The study began by assessing relevant literatures on VID and developing a theoretical
framework on the basis of the prior literatures in advance of data collection, in order to articulate
and direct its empirical investigation. The study revealed violent ensued displacement has makes
IDPs under multidimensional vulnerable situations such as loss of livelihood associated income
source activity ,unable to send children‟s to school, damage of common properties, and loss of
complimentary economic activity indirectly resulted incalculable consequence on previous social
organization of displaced community such as family disorganization, loss of traditional
supportive mechanism, loss of neighborhood and communal activity in resettled place. Further,
inability of victims to ensure their self-provision of basic needs or coping up strategy, low social
service access and absence of support from concerned bodies makes them the poorest among the
poor and the most vulnerable household.
