dc.description.abstract The main concern of this study was assessing the contribution of youth football projects to the main clubs in West Gojjam zone .The current study used descriptive research design with quantitative and qualitative approach. Simple random sampling technique were employed to select sample youth football projects. Comprehensive/available sampling technique was also employed to use all youth football project players and coaches as participant. The participants in the present study were consisted of 54 youth players, and 4 coaches. In order to achieve the above stated objectives both primary and secondary data were generated. Primary data were gathered through semi-structured questionnaire and key informant interview. The questionnaires were administered for both youth football players and coaches of the team whereas, the key informant interviews were held with the coaches of the main clubs. Secondary data were collected from the files of the project. Descriptive statistical tools such as frequency and percentage and multiple responses were used in data analysis. The finding of the study revealed that, more than half 63% of the players and 75% of the coaches were appreciate the current progress of youth football projects but 37% of the players and 25% of coaches were not appreciate the current progress of youth football projects. However, lack of training infrastructure, resource/budget, professional coach, suitable training field/courts, cooperation among the concerned bodies, scientific method of training and player’s family influences/ awareness were the existing factors which determine youth football projects in the study area. As the binary analysis showed that, age, educational status, resource/budget, training infrastructure, professional coach and scientific method of training were found to be statistically significant factors which determine the youth football project progress at p < 0.05 and 0.1 significant levels en_US
