Abstract:
It is something regrettable that many individuals who contributed a lot to their people and
country in different fields are forgotten after their death. In the absence of written records, their
contribution could not be transformed for the next generation and be a source of inspiration.
Therefore, the main objective of this study is primarily to honor and acknowledge important
personalities like Däjjazmač Anley Haile, in order not to remain their deeds, achievements and
contributions hidden, without being known to the public at large.
In light of this fact, I have decided to write the biography of Däjjazmač Anley Haile, a well
known and redoubtable patriot who fought against the invading Italian forces at the battle of širè
and Yizora (Yedbi). He also waged a guerrilla war fare against Italian occupation in his district
Yilmana Densa and the surrounding wärädaes to greater extent. The data for this study was
collected through interviews, from archrivals as well as publication and unpublications focusing
on the issue.In addition to his patriotic struggle against Italy, his administration skills were
renowned in the areas of Yilmana Dénsa wäräda, Achafar wäräda, Metekel Awuraja, Agew
Mider and Bahir DarAwuraja and provinces of Gojjam. On the other hand his achievements were
to settle the disputes of peasant rebellion in Gojjam in general Yilmana Dénsa wäräda in
particular. Oppressions and exploitation of his people, dishonesty, and threat from others were
among those evil deeds that Däjjazmač Anley Haile dares to fight since his early ages.
Moreover, the study deals with the family background, birth, growth, education, career and
important achievements of Däjjazmač Anley haile from 1902-1990.The thesis also describes his
role to the growth and development of the town of Yilmana Densa (Adet). It will also try to fill
some gaps in the existing literature and shade, light on the root cause of current social economic
and administrative problems in the district and it creates conducive
environmentforotherresearchers.
