Abstract:
The study of complete Fusion in heavy ion reactions, the excitation functions for several residues produced in the system oxygen (16O) and Terbium ( 159Tb) have been studied in the energy range 70-99MeV. The experimental excitation functions have been compared with those calculated using computer code PACE4. The experimentally studied production cross-sections for non α emitting channels were found to be in good agreement with theoretical predictions which may be attributed to the complete fusion (CF) processes at these energies. Comparison of experimental and theoretical calculated excitation functions has indicated significant contributions from complete fusion in some α emission channels. In the present study, the excitation functions of 159Tb (16O; 3n)172Ta, 159Tb (16O; 4n)171Ta, 159Tb (16O; 5n)170Ta, 159Tb (16O; p3n)171Hf, 159Tb (16O; p4n)170Hf were studied in these reactions. An attempt has been made to separate out the relative contributions of complete fusion channels.
