Abstract:
Street child beggars are vulnerable groups who faced psychosocial challenges and considerable
concern to the community. The objective of this study was to explore psychosocial challenges of
street child beggars. The study utilized qualitative approach with case study design. Twelve
participants (9 street child beggars and 3 key informants) participated in the study. Data was gathered
with Interview and Observation. The data transcribed, coded, categorized and analyzed thematically.
The finding of the study showed that street child beggars Dynamics and interrelationships are
contention; they are also quarrelling and detached. Street child beggars are segregated and have low
sense of belongingness. Finally, the finding also showed that these children are abused, disgraced and
have a feeling of guilt. All these psychosocial challenges made street child beggars stressed and
depressed. The study brought implication for both social work profession and practitioner by gaining
knowledge and provides an intervention area as case manager, and counselor.
