dc.description.abstract The purpose of the study was to assess the organizationalworking conditions, remuneration and promotion on employee job satisfaction in the hotel industry in Gondar city. The researcher employed a descriptive surveydesign to assess hotels. All three star hotels of Gondar City were included in the study using comprehensive sampling. From 544 population, the researcher selected 231 samples using stratified random sampling and 227questionnaires were retrieved with response rate of 98%. In this study, questionnaires and semi structured interview were applied as instruments of primary data collection. The questionnaire consisted 44 closed ended items, each one on a 5-point Likert scale ranging from “strongly disagree” to “strongly agree”. The data obtained through the questionnaires were analyzed quantitatively, especially subjected to descriptive statistics (percentage, frequencies and mean). On the other hand, the semi structured interview was analyzedqualitatively, specifically subjected to thematic analysis with the focus of categorizing similar themes together.Through questionnaire and semi structured interview, the study revealed that employee job satisfaction with working conditions was high (Mean=3.5); there waslow job satisfaction with majority of the aspects of remuneration (Mean=2.96); andemployeejob satisfaction with promotion system was almost at the average level (Mean=3.2). The overall employee job satisfaction in reference to working condition, remuneration and promotion in the hotel industry wasfound to be average. To improve employee job satisfaction, the hotel management should regularly review employees’ salaries and benefits to ensure that they are proportionate to their skills and work experience, as this would boost their morale and improve their productivity and help for employees’ retention. en_US
