Abstract:
A tremendous decrease in the academic achievement of students due to peer influence becomes a
serious problem in Ethiopia, particularly in Guzara High School. So the purpose of the study was
to assess the impact of negative peer influences on the students’ academic achievement in
Guzara high school, Gondar Zuria Woreda, Ethiopia. The objective of the study was to examine
negative peer group prior achievements influences students’ academic achievements, to examine
the association between peer influence and academic achievement of students and to identify
factors associated with for the vulnerability of peer influence of students Guzara high school
students. Cross-sectional survey design was used. The study included 124 respondents from
Guzara high school; of Gondar Zuria Woreda selected using random sampling technique. The
data were collected using questionnaire, interview and focus group discussion. The data were
analyzed using both quantitative and qualitative techniques. Quantitative data were analyzed
using frequency, percentage, cross tabulation with chi-square and binary logistic regression. The
binary logistic regression result was used to show the determinant factors associated with for the
vulnerability of peer influence on academic achievement of students. The expected binary
