This study is about the connection between social media usage and its influence on the social relationships of high school students in Tach Armachiho Woreda, North Gondar Zone. This study focused mainly on the role of social media in influencing the relationships of the students among themselves, their using system, and their main message exchanging as specific objectives. To this end Mixed research approach that involved both the survey design and qualitative interview to come up with the detailed understanding of the issue under investigation. The In-depth interview, survey questioner and observation were used to generate adequate data. The study also employed purposeful sampling methods in order to incorporate participants based on their spiking capacity, skills of using face book and voluntarism. Thematic types of data analyzing system were used to categorize in to meaning full themes from which meaning full interpretations emerged. The analysis of the study passed through the process of transcribing, translating, categorizing and interpreting translations. The major finding of the study reviewed that high school students use social media such as face book and others without understanding of how it uses. They exchange disadvantageous messages from their friends, they isolated from their friends by the cause of using face book. Generally, face book has negative impact for student’s relationship. This study suggests that attention needs to be given for face book user students because they are negatively affected by bulling and isolated from their partners. They separated from their friends to use face book then the relationships of the students are declined and declined. Lastly it has social work implication. In Tach Armachiho Woreda high schools professional social workers should be employed to support student how use social media and giving guidance and counseling. |
