Ithasbeen linkedwithcoagulationproblems.Coagulopathyincreasesmorbidityandmortality.However,thereislimitedinformationregardingcoagulationandplateletparametersinnon-Hodgkin’slymphomapatientsinEthiopia.
Objective:Thisstudyaimedtocomparecoagulationandplateletparametersamongtreatment-naïve,treatment-receivingNon-HodgkinsLymphomapatientsandhealthy
controls.
Methods:Acomparativecross-sectionalstudywasconductedattheUniversityofGondarandFelegehiwotComprehensiveSpecializedHospitalsfromJuly01,2024,toFebruary25,2025.Atotalof180studyparticipantswereenrolledusingaconvenientsamplingmethod.Thesocio-demographicandclinicaldatawascollectedbystructuredquestionnairesandmedicalrecordreview.Eightmlofbloodwerecollected:3mlinEDTA,2.7mlintrisodiumcitrate,and2mlinserumseparatortubes.PlateletandcoagulationparametersweremeasuredusingMindray-5150hematologyanalyzerandGenruicoagulationanalyzer(CA51).ThecollecteddatawasenteredandclearedbyEpiData3.1andwasanalyzedbySPSSversion21.TheKruskal-Wallistestwasemployedtocomparecoagulationparametersamongthethreegroups.Spearmancorrelationwasperformedtodeterminetherelationshipbetweenvariables.Theresultwaspresentedusingcharts,tablesandtexts.P-value<0.05wasconsideredstatisticallysignificant.
Result:Themeanage±SDofthestudyparticipantswas51±16,51±15and49±6yearsfortreatment-experienced,treatment-naïve,andhealthycontrols,respectively.59.4%ofthestudyparticipantsweremale.Themedian(IQR)valueofaPTTwere39.2(15.2),43.8(17.5),and33.2(8.2)secondsfortreatment-naïve,treatment-receiving,andhealthycontrolgroups,respectively.Themedian(IQR)PTvaluesfortreatmentnaive,treatmentexperienced,andhealthycontrolswere15.6(3.79),17.16(6.43),and14.6(10.85)seconds,respectively.BothActivatedPartialThromboplastinTimeand

Prothrombintimeshowstatisticallysignificantvariationamongthethreegroups(p-value<0.001).Besides,themedian(IQR)ofplateletcountshowedasignificantdifferenceamongtreatmentnaive,treatmentexperiencedandhealthycontrolgroups(p<0.001),withmedianvalueof191(145.5),178(118),and254(62.5),respectively.
Conclusion:Plateletandcoagulationparametersshowedsignificantdifferenceamongthethreegroups.TheresultsrevealasignificantcoagulationabnormalitiesinNHLpatients, indicatingtheneedforroutinehemostaticmonitoringtofacilitateearlyinterventionandmanagement
