Abstract:
Background:The use of information technology in the healthcare system has increasingly enhanced and has the potential to improve the healthcare service. However, the acceptability of PACS in developing countries such as Ethiopia was unknown. Therefore, assessing the acceptability of PACS and identifying predictors among health professionals has paramount benefits for healthcare improvement..
Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted among 605 health professionals from March 28 to April 28, 2023, at Tikur Anbessa specialized hospital and Saint Paul’s Hospital Millennium Medical College in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. A standardized self-administered questionnaire was used to collect the data. A simple random sampling followed by a stratified sampling technique was used to select the study participants. Descriptive statistics were done using SPSS version 26 software. Structural equation modeling analysis with AMOS version 21 software was employed.
Result:A total of 588 health professionals participated in the study, with a 97% response rate. The acceptability of PACS was 66.7% (95% CI, 62.7–70.5). Effort expectancy (β = 0.123, p< 0.025), performance expectancy (β = 0.224, P < 0.001), and social influence (β = 0.193, p < 0.001) had a direct positive relationship with the intention to use PACS. While facilitating condition (β = 0.227, p< 0.001) and behavioral intention (β = 0.385, p< 0.001) had a positive direct relationship with acceptability of PACS, age <30 (β = 0.354, p < 0.001) moderated the relationship between performance expectancy and behavioral intention for the acceptability of PACS, while age >= 30 (β = 0.251, p < 0.001) moderated the relationship between social influence and behavioral intention for the acceptability of PACS. Furthermore experience >10 years (β = 0.369, p < 0.001) moderated the relationship between social influence and acceptability of PACS.
Coclusion: Generally, health professionals' acceptability of PACS was found to be promising. Performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence facilitation conditions, and behavioral intention were significant predictors of acceptability of PACS. Age moderated the relationship between PE and SI on BI. Experience moderated SI
