dc.description.abstract The validity of the optimized procedure was evaluated by the analysis of spiked samples whose recovery was in the range of 85.16-111.2% and the limit of detection of Fe of 0.0654mg/L, Mn of 0.00037mg/L, Cu of 0.0281mg/L, Zn of 0.00079mg/L and Pb of 0.01469mg/L and Cr not detected. All the parameters analysed were influenced by seasonal variations. The highest concentration was obtained for copper in all the drinking water samples in wet season and the concentration of manganese obtained from dry season was the least one compared to the other metals. Drinking water could be a good source of essential trace metals particularly Mn, Cu and Zn. The analysis of variance (ANOVA) at 95% confidence level indicated that there were significant variation (p ) of mean concentrations of Mn, Pb and Fe were observed among the drinking water types whereas absence of significant difference (p>0.05) was observed for Cu and Zn en_US
