Abstract
Back ground: Pain is a stressful experience that invariably affects all age groups. But
the pain in children is usually underestimated and undertreated mainly because of their
inability to express rightly their feelings to the caregivers as well as to their physicians.
Objective: This study aimed to Assess Prevalence and associated factors of pain
among children and adolescents from 1 month to 15 years admitted to Pediatric
Emergency at UOGCSH, Northwest Ethiopia.
Methods: Institutional based cross-sectional study was conducted from April1, 2022 to
June 30, 2022 G.C among children and adolescents admitted to UOGCSH Pediatrics
Emergency .About 280 study participants were selected by systematic random sampling
Structured, pretested and interviewer-administered questionnaire was used to collect
the data. The data was entered using EPidata version 4.6 and exported to STATA
version 14.0 for analysis of the result. The variables found to be statistically significant
in the binary logistic regression analysis were entered into multivariable logistic
regression model and statistical significance of P<0.05 was used for the final model.
Odds ratios with 95% confidence interval is used to determine the strength of
association between dependent and independent variables. Results are presented with
texts, tables and graphs.
Result: Two hundred eighty
Conclusion: The prevalence of pain was very high but there was no objective
assessment and documentation of pain.
