Abstract:
ABSTRACT
Introduction- Breech presentation occurs in approximately 3 of term pregnancies and there
is a high cesarean birth rate for breech presentation which increases the incidence rate of
perinatal morbidity and mortality and poses a challenge to obstetric management. External

Objective朤he objective of this study isto determine the success rate of ECV and itsassociated
factors among pregnant women with malpresentationsat University of Gondar specialized
hospital, northwest Ethiopia, 2022.
Methods-An Institution based cross-sectional study was conducted From December 2021 to
September 2022 with sample size of 174 participants. All pregnant women with malpresentation
after 36 weeks of gestation during the study period who met the inclusion criteria was included
in the study. The collected data was checked for its completeness; clarity then coded and entered
using Epi data version 4.6 and exported to SPSS version 25 for analysis. Bivariate and
multivariate logistic regression analysis was employed to see the association between dependent
and independent variables.AOR with 95% confidence interval was reported to determine the
strength of association and Variables having P-value<0.05 from the multivariate analysis was
considered to have Statistical significance.
Result 朤he success rate of external cephalic version was 58.6%. pregnant women with
malpresentation who had lax or thin abdominal wall status were more likely to have successful

Conclusion 朓n our study the success rate of external cephalic version were found to be 58.6%,
which is comparable to previous studies and standard textbooks. Lax or thin abdominal wall,
posterior placental location, palpable fetal head and forward roll technique of ECV were
significantly associated with success of ECV.
