Electronic Community Health Information System Implementation Status and Associated Factors among Health Extension workers in Pilot Woreda in Central Gondar Zone, Amara Region, Ethiopia, 2022

Abstract

Abstract Background: Electronic Community Health Information System (eCHIS) is an application that digitized the paper-based family folder and service workflows to record and report household health data. Even if implemetation digital data at all levels is critical, it is poorly practiced in developing countries Objectives: This study aimed to assess the eCHIS implementation status and its associated factors among health extension Worker Pilot woreda in Central Gondar Zone, Amhara region, North West, Ethiopia,2022. Method: An institution-based cross-sectional quantitative study was conducted at health post among health Extension Workers to assess the implementation status of eCHIS. A complete survey method was used to conduct the study. All health Extension Workers (four hundred fifty) found in the Pilot Woreda during the study period were included in the study. Data entry and analysis were done Kobo collect (ODK) version 2022.1.2 and STATA version 14 respectively. Descriptive statistics were used to describe variables using frequency tables, graphs, and texts. Bivariable and Multivariable logistic regression analysis was conducted to discover the effect of each study variable on the outcome variable and variables having a p-value <0.2 was entered into a multivariable logistic regression analysis. The strength of association was determined using an odds ratio at 95% CI, a p-value less than 0.05 is considered a significant variable. Result : a total of 430 respondents were participate with response rate 95%. this study the eCHIS Implementation among Pilot Woreda was 212(49.3%). Technical skills (AOR: 2.13 ,95%CI: 1.44-3.73). marital status (AOR: 0.41, 95% CI: (0.24-0.69 and Salary (AOR: 2.73, 95% CI:(1.51-4.97)associated with eCHIS Implementation. Conclusion:-eCHIS Implementation by HEWs was low in the study area.Tecnical,Salary and marital status were associated with eCHIS Implementation. Providing referment training and supportive supervision for HEW is better increase CHIS eCHIS Implementation.
