Abstract
Background
Labor Pain is the most disturbing and annoying symptom experienced by most of the
mother. It is subjective symptoms that affect many hospitalized patients and considered
an integral part of human experience. Pain may have debilitating effects on patient’s
physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing and thus, can alter their quality of life.
Recently, it is being measured as one of the vital signs.
Objective
To assess the level of Knowledge and attitude on final year midwife students in labor
analgesia.
Method
A descriptive and cross-sectional study was conducted at Gondar University. The data
was collected by using structured self –administered questioner. The collected data was
cleaned, coded and entered to SPSS20.
Result
Of all 130 participants 50(37.3%) are female with the mean age of 21 and standard
deviation of ±2. Sixty one percent of them are orthodox and 90(67.2%) are extension
students.According to this study 42% of the participants had bad knowledge.Among the
participants only 41% had favorable attitude.
Conclusion and recommendation
In our study 58% of participant were good knowledgeable, 42% of participant were bad
knowledgeable and 59% had unfavorable attitude towards labor analgesia. The
midwifery better to take training on labor analgesia. Supportive supervision on the use
of labor analgesia for better to be strengthened
