Abstract:
The performance of electrocoagulation (EC) using Aluminum electrodes for the treatment of effluent containing heavy metals was studied. In the present work, the efficiency evaluation of EC in removing removal of selected heavy metals from real industrial tannery wastewater, collected from Bahir Dar, Debre Brihan, and Haik was investigated. The treated and untreated samples were determined by atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS).The different analytical parameters were optimized during the study. The results indicated that sole heavy metals removed in the experiments with high removal percentages. The maximum removal percentages of chromium metal obtained were 84.42% for Haik, 92.64% for Bahir Dar and 94.90% for Debre Brihan. The sludge was characterized by FT-IR.
