Abstract:
The quality of most Eucalyptus wood for construction from small and large scaleplantations is poor. This is related to forest management practices. Incurrent poormanagement practicethe productivity of the forest is low. Hencethe demand and supplyof wood products in the area is insufficient. This is because of lack of forest extensionservices regarding forest management mainlyonSmall scale plantation. Therefore theobjective of thisstudy is to understand the management and productivity of small scaleand large scaleEucalyptusglobulusplantation and suggest recommendations that willimproveproductivity of the plantation. For this study select threeKebele in the districtpurposely based on both types of plantation availabilityThen 5.64 m radius and area(A=100m

) circular plot were laid out systematically with the random start. Harvest 30trees from each age and the actual volume of individual logsof 1m each was calculatedusingHuber’s formula for form factor development.Plantationmanagement practiceswerecollected through interview.Purposive sampling was used to select sample 225respondentswho have eucalyptus plantation from three kebeles. Then the collected datawas analyzed bySPSSversion 20,regression, correlationand ANOVA.Highbasal areawas registered in large scale coppice stand at 6

Moreoverthinning is not conducted on small-scale plantation, and thus, reduces the quality andproductivity of the plantation. Thus, forest extension service and training on nurseryand plantation management is paramount important to enhance the quality andproductivityof the plantation in the study area
